Gift Voucher -Advanced Glass Fusing Course

£150.00Price
  • A perfect way to enjoy the craft of glass fusing without the expense of purchasing a kiln along with all the tools and range glass colours needed.

With only 2-3 per class you will have plenty of guidance from Alison throughout the day, helping you achieve something you can be proud of and continue developing your glass fusing skills while keeping a safe social distance.

In the morning we will take a look at the designs you all wish to make and talk through the best approach for recreating it in glass, making adjustments where necessary. This is a great opportunity to learn other approaches and give you more ideas for future pieces you might like to make. This should take no more than an hour so you have plenty of time to work on your glass.

You will be provided with a sheet of clear glass approx. 30cm x 30cm to work with, using the coloured glass available to build up your design. You can produce either one large piece or make a selection of smaller pieces from your sheet of glass.

  • Learn about the exciting possibilities of fused glass fired at a higher temperature!

These higher temperatures make the glass behave differently to a regular contour firing, and many combinations will display interesting chemical reactions and other fascinating effects! In this day you will spend the morning learning about which colours react with each other and how to create other interesting effects in the glass such as dilutions and granite-like effects.

You will also be able to experiment with copper inclusions and pretty blue copper dioxide bubbles.

This course requires some careful thinking and imagination - the glass looks very different after firing, and can be hard to picture what the final result will be! Results can be tricky to predict or replicate, but that just adds to the alchemy fun!

In this day you will make a piece 20 x 20cm, and a few small dishes or a coaster so you can try out a variety of these fun techniques. This course is more focused towards abstract designs and textures rather than imagery, so you do not need to necessarily come with a plan for what you would like to make.

With only 2-3 per class you will have plenty of guidance from Alison throughout the day, helping you achieve something you can be proud of and continue developing your glass fusing skills while keeping a safe social distance.
